Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and the Judges Committee today visited the old jail at city’s Umesh Dutta Road to pay homage to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Supreme Court spokesman and special officer Md Saifur Rahman said this to journalists.
President of the Supreme Court Judges Committee, formed on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birth centenary celebration, Syed Mahmud Hossain, Justice Md Nuruzzaman and Justice Obaidul Hasan of the Appellate Division, Justice M Enayetur Rahim, Justice Krishna Debnath, Justice Jahangir Hossain, Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Mohammad Shahinur Islam of High Court division were present on the occasion.
The Judges Committee led by the Chief Justice paid homage by placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the old prison.
At this time, they prayed for the eternal peace of the soul of Bangabandhu and his martyred family members. They also visited all the rooms where Bangabandhu was imprisoned.
Later, they visited the Bangabandhu Museum situated in the old jail.
The committee members also paid tribute to the four national leaders by laying wreaths at their portraits, and visited the detention cells.
