A man was reportedly murdered by his younger brother over Tk 2,700 at Boxnagar area of Demra in the capital on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Kabir Hossain, 24, son of Ataur Rahman, was an auto-rickshaw driver, hailing from Ghoraghat upazila in Dinajpur.
Mithu, brother-in-law of deceased, said that the incident took place at 11:30 pm when younger brother Sabuj went to Kabir to get back his money which he lent him before some days and locked in an altercation. At one stage, Sabuj attacked his elder brother and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, locals took the injured to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctor declared Kabir dead.
Inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the incident, adding that the body was kept at the hospital’s morgue for an autopsy.
