Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left New York for Washington DC this morning wrapping up her weeklong official visit to attend the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN Headquarters and high voltage side events.
“A VVIP chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the premier and her entourage members departed John F Kennedy International Airport in New York for Washington DC at 9:15 am (local time),” Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.
The aircraft is expected to land at the Dallas International Airport in Washington DC at 10:15am local time.
Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Rabab Fatima saw the premier off at the airport while Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA M Shahidul Islam is expected to receive the prime minister at the Dallas International Airport .
The Prime Minister reached New York on September 19 after a two-day stopover in Helsinki, the Finish capital.
During her stay in New York, Sheikh Hasina addressed the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly. She delivered her speech in Bangla on September 24 following Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
From September 19 to 24, Sheikh Hasina attended several high-level and close-door meetings and bilateral talks with heads of governments and states and organisations.
She planted a tree and inaugurated a bench at the UN Gardens in North Lawn of the UN Headquarters in honour of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on September 20 marking his birth centenary.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to return home on October 1.
