Main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said that people would not participate in the government arranged ‘election trap’ without the caretaker government.
Mirza Fakhrul made the statement while addressing a discussion meeting organised by Jatiya Ganatantrik Party at Dhaka Reporters Unity. The party president, Lutfar Rahman, chaired the meeting.
Fakhrul said that the Awami League government had arranged the administration in such a way that in the name of elections there would be a ‘game’ in which only their candidates would win.
‘But people of the country will not participate in that election trap so that such game cannot be held again,’ Fakhrul said.
Advisor to the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, Aman Ullah Aman, Abdus Salam, NDP leader Fariduzzaman Farhad, Bikalpadhara Bangladesh faction leader Nurul Amin Bepari, and JAGPA secretary general SM Shahdat, among others, participated in the discussion meeting.
