A man has been arrested in a case filed over sexually harassing a female student of Jagannath University (JnU) near Victoria Park in Old Dhaka on March 6.

The arrestee was identified as Anowar alias Ana, 33.

Confirming the news, Kazi Wazed Ali, officer-in-charge of Sutrapur Police Station, said police arrested the accused from Nawab Bari Pukurpar area in Kotwali around 7:30pm on Sunday.

The arrestee, who was identified with the help of CCTV footages, confessed to sexually harassing the victim during primary interrogation, he said.

The victim filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

In the complaint filed on the day of the incident with Sutrapur Police Station against two unknown persons, the victim stated that two unknown persons stopped her on the way to JnU in front of Khan Plaza at Old Dhaka’s Kolta Bazar area at around 8:30am.

The duo sexually harassed her and quickly fled the scene on a motorcycle, the complaint added.
