The coronavirus or Covid-19 infection is on the rise as over 1,000 people of the country have infected with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The death toll is also increasing along with infection. Some 18 people died of infection in the last 24 hours. Under this circumstance, there may be danger if health guidelines are not followed strictly, apprehended Prof Dr ABM Khurshid Alam, Director General (DG) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

He said, “We were in comfort in the last two months, so we are not following anything. We will fall in great danger in the coming days, if we do not follow health regulations.”

The health DG made the remarks at the inaugural ceremony of One Stop TB Centre at TB Hospital at Shamoli in the capital on Sunday.

Prof Khurshid said, “Those who are being infected are mostly youths. It is being required to admit the infected persons in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.”

“In the last two months, no request for ICU bed was made to me. But I have been receiving calls for ICU beds. Now, young men having good physical condition are being infected with coronavirus,” he said.
