The Election Commission on Sunday decided to register two political parties named Bangladesh Nationalist Movement and Bangladesh Supreme Party.
Public notification would be issued regarding these two parties on Monday, said the commission.
Any objection regarding these two parties can be filed till July 26.
The final decision will be taken to register both the parties after settling the objections.
This decision was taken in the meeting of the Election Commission on Sunday.
Following the meeting, EC secretary Jahangir Alam told reporters that no party, except the registered political parties, can participate in the elections with the party symbol.
He said that a total of 93 parties applied for registration this time.
After the preliminary selection, the Election Commission decided to verify the field level information of 12 parties, including the discussed parties, Gano Odhikar Parishad and AB Party.
Out of 12 parties, the EC has taken a preliminary decision to finally register two parties.
Jahangir said that this decision had been taken after verifying the field level information.
In case of these two parties, all the information, including the district and upazila level committee information, was found correct.
In case of the remaining 10 parties, there was a discrepancy in the field data, he said.
A total of 93 parties applied for EC registration during the application deadline for new registrations in October last year.
Of them, the EC got the documents of 12 teams correct in the preliminary selection.
In April, EC field officials started verifying the field level information given by these 12 parties.
The 12 parties that survived the preliminary selection of the Election Commission are — Amar Bangladesh Party, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Andolan, Bangladesh Humanist Party, Gano Odhikar Parishad, Nagrik Oikya, Bangladesh Sanatan Party, Bangladesh Supreme Party, Bangladesh Labor Party, Bangladesh Minority Janata Party, Bangladesh People’s Party, Democratic Party and Bangladesh Liberal Democratic Party.
