Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Monday announced a three-day programme including a rally in Dhaka on August 1.
Jamaat acting ameer Mujibur Rahman announced the programme at a press conference in Dhaka on Monday, said a press release issued by the party.
He announced that the party would hold rallies in all the metropolitan cities on July 28 and in all the district towns on July 30.
The party announced the program to press home their demands including dissolve of the parliament and holding national election under caretaker government, release of arrested leaders and activists, including the party ameer, according to the release.
Jamaat acting ameer alleged that the government was conspiring to hold the upcoming national election in the style that they did in 2014 and in 2018 and that, that is why, the government was reshuffling the administration.
Mujibur Rahman alleged that Jamaat was not being allowed to hold rallies.
‘Despite written applications to the administration, permissions were not given to hold rallies in Sylhet and Chittagong. Instead, Jamaat leaders and activists are being arrested and harassed,’ he alleged.
After a decade, Jamaat held a public rally in Dhaka on June 10 with police permission.
