2 killed as truck, auto-rickshaw collide in Bogura

Two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Jamunapar area of Sherpur upazila in Bogura on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Arpita Saha, 20, daughter of Jibon Saha, hailing from Mathurapur village of Dhunat upazila and Nila Khatun, 35, wife of Sultan Mahmud, from Sherua village of Sherpur upazila.

The identities of the injured could not be known yet.

Quoting locals, police said the Dhaka-bound truck collided with the auto-rickshaw coming from opposite direction on Bagura-Dhaka highway at 9:00 am, leaving the auto-rickshaw passenger Nila Khatun dead on the spot and its four passengers injured.

Later, on information, members of fire service rushed to the spot and took the injured to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College where duty doctor declared Arpita dead.

Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sherpur Police Station, confirmed the accident to media.
