Pankaj Nath, a Member of Parliament from Barisal-4 (Hijla-Mehendiganj) constituency, tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.
The ruling Awami League MP himself confirmed the news over phone on Saturday.
He is now taking treatment following doctors’ advice from isolation at his residence at Dhanmondi-32 in the capital, he said.
“I have been suffering from fever since Wednesday. Later, I gave my samples to DGHS laboratory on Thursday for Covid-19 test and the result came out positive for the virus on Friday,” Pankaj said.
Requesting the countrymen to pray for his quick recovery, the former Swechchhasebak League General Secretary said he has no symptoms except fever, body pain and sore throat.
