Police arrested 47 suspects in connection with the arson attacks on buses during the by-polls to Dhaka-18 constituency on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of public relations and media wing of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Walid Hossain confirmed the matter.
A total of 16 cases were filed with 12 police stations including Paltan, Motijheel, Airport, Uttara East, Shahbagh, Vatara, Kalabagan, Turag, Khilkhet, Mohammadpur, Sutrapur and Bongshal respectively in the capital over bus torching incidents.
Of the police stations, Shahbagh Police Station arrested six people, Bongshal arrested seven, Kalabagan arrested two, Turag arrested one, Uttara East arrested nine, Khilkhet arrested two, Sutrapur arrested eight and Vatara arrested one and Motijheel Police Station arrested two suspects.
On Thursday (November 12), a group of miscreants torched at least nine buses in the different areas of the capital during the by-polls to the Dhaka-18 constituency.
