The High Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to more than one hundred BNP leaders and activists, including the party’s standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, in separate cases filed with different police stations over arson attacks.
A High Court bench of Justice Md Habibul Gani, Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan passed the order on Wednesday after hearing their bail pleas.
The court asked the BNP leaders and activists to surrender before the subordinate court after January 5.
The leaders who were granted bail are Jubo Dal President Saiful Alam Nirob, Jubo Dal general secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Jubo Dal leader SM Jahangir, among others.
Lawyer of the BNP leaders Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajol confirmed the news.
More than 14 cases were filed with different police stations of the capital accusing more than 500 leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliates for arson attacks.
