Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said four madrasa students were arrested in connection with vandalising under construction sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Panch Rastar More in Kushtia.
Even instigators of the incident will not be spared, he added.
The Home Minister came up with this information while talking to journalists at a briefing on contemporary issues at the secretariat on Sunday.
Kamal said the madrasa students who were involved in sculpture vandalism are identified as Abu Bakar, Nahid, Al Amin and Yusuf and they are the students of Kushtia Ibne Masud Madrasa.
“Sculptures are found in many places of the country and we will look after the issue of security of sculptors.” he added.
Mentionable, miscreants vandalised Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s sculpture in the early hours of Saturday in Kushtia town amid an anti-sculpture protest by Islamist organisations.
The face and hands of the sculpture were vandalised by two persons within a minute beginning at 2:16am on Saturday, shows the CCTV footage.
The vandalism of Bangabandhu’s sculpture in Kushtia sparked widespread criticism across the country.
