Three friends were killed in a road accident in Alamdasta area of Rajoir upazila in Madaripur on Tuesday night.

The deceased were identified as Shahin Hawlader, 17, son of Alem Hawlader, hailing from Daradia village of the upazila, Anik Munshi, 20, son of Ismail Munshi, from the same area and Shakil Faraji, 18, son of Liku Faraji, from Macchar village of the same upazila.

Sheikh Sadi, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajoir police station, said a Barishal-bound pick-up van collided with a motorcycle coming from opposite direction on which the victims were riding to go to Gopalganj, leaving the trio critically injured.

They were later rescued in critical condition and taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared Shahin and Anik dead, the OC said.

Later, Shahin succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College hospital (DMCH) this morning, he said.
