A Kishoreganj court sentenced a man to death and 5 others, including his father and mother, to life term imprisonment in a case filed for killing a farmer in Bajitour upazila of Kishoreganj in 2016.

Judge of Kishoreganj First Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Md A Rahim handed down the verdict on Monday morning.

At the same time, the court also fined the death row convict Tk 2,0000 while life term awardees TK 1,0000 each.
The death row convict is Jewel while life awardees are Jaj Mia, Md Kakon Mia, Mosammat Rahima Khatun, Md Mahbub Hasan Ranju and Saiful Islam. Among them, Md Saiful Islam and Md Kakon Mia are on the run.

According to the case statement, the convicts beat farmer Siddque Mia, son of late Ahmed Ali, hailing from the area, with an iron rod over land dispute on January 22, 2016.

He was first taken to Bhagalpur Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Later he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka.
