Transport owners’ association of Rajshahi suspended inter-district bus services from Rajshahi to other routes abruptly from Monday, leaving general passengers in untold sufferings.
Bus owners defended the decision citing security concerns over the BNP rally today (Tuesday) as police yet to give clearance for the proposed rally. “We stopped bus operations considering the safety of the workers. We’ll resume operation when the situation improves,” a bus owner said.
On the other hand, BNP leaders alleged the bus services have been suspended to obstruct people from attending the party’s pre-scheduled rally in the district on Tuesday.
BNP leader Mizanur Rahman Minu said police were yet to give permission and approve venue for their divisional rally.
