Thunderbolt kills schoolteacher in Rangpur

A schoolteacher was killed in a lightning strike at village Haldibari under Balapara union of Kawnia upazila in the district on Friday.

“The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 40, a teacher at a local kindergarten school, and son of Abdul Mannan of Bhelupara village under the same upazila,” said Chairman of Balapara union parishad Ansar Ali.

The thunderbolt struck Jahangir while he was plucking vegetables from his crop field there at noon killing him on the spot, the Chairman added.
