3 killed in Mymensingh road crash

Three people were killed after a covered van hit a truck in Labankotha area under Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh early hours of Monday.

The deceased were identified as truck driver Shah Alam Gazi, 57, son of Kawsar Gazi, hailing from Amurakanda village in Phulpur upazila, his helper Rabiul Majhi, 25, son on Abdul Maleque, from Keyamatnagar village in Jhalakathi sadar upazila and Rabbi Mia, 24, son of Borhan Uddin, from Gendaria in Dhaka.

Ziaul Haque, sub-inspector (SI) of Bharadoba Highway Police Station, confirmed the accident.

 

He said, “The Mymensingh-bound covered van hit the parked truck from behind while its driver and helper were repairing the wheels of the truck at 3:00am on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, leaving truck driver and his assistant dead on the spot and another injured”.

Later, the injured was taken to a hospital in critical condition where on-duty doctor declared him dead, he added.
