A young man, who suffered injuries in an explosion at Moghbazar area of the capital on Sunday, died on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Imran Hossain, 25.

The man with 90 percent burns breathed his last at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 6:00am while undergoing treatment, said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, coordinator of the institute.

With this, a total of nine persons died in the incident so far.

Three more people are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), he said.

Earlier, at least seven people were killed in the incident, which rocked the Wireless Gate area around 7:30 pm on Sunday. Hundreds, including many pedestrians and commuters, are being treated for their injuries at different hospitals in the capital.

The blast is believed to have been caused by a gas leak somewhere in the building.
