Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary will be held on Mar 17, 2020. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver the keynote speech at the inaugural event of the grand celebration in Dhaka.
Indian popular daily The Hindu confirmed the news quoting Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali.
“Narendra Modi has been invited, and he has confirmed his participation. Modi is also going to deliver the keynote speech at the program,” he said to ‘The Hindu’ while participating at the ninth book fair titled ‘Bangladesh Book Fair’ in Kolkata,
He added that at least 30 global leaders have been invited to various programs centering Bangabandhu’s hundredth anniversary, and about a dozen have already confirmed their participation.
The event will launch year-long programs between 2020 and 2021, formally described as “Mujib year” celebrations.
Alongside Modi, chief ministers of several states in India are also supposed to attend the celebration.
