Angry local people halted vehicular movement on Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway in Naogaon after a truck hit four people, leaving two of them dead and two others injured.

The protesters set fire to tyres and brought out a procession wielding sticks, causing a 10-kilometre long tailback on the busy highway.

Earlier in the morning, a woman and her daughter were killed and her husband and another daughter injured as the truck hit them at Bottoli Doctorer Mor area on Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway in Sadar upazila of Naogaon.

The deceased were identified as Asori Begum, 25, and her dauther Sampa, 6. Adori’s husband Shahid and oher daughter were undergoing treatment in a local hospital in critical condition.

Confirming the news, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station Sorwardi, said a speedy truck hit them at the area at around 7:00am, leaving two women dead on the spot.
