Poll campaign to 161 UPs, nine municipalities ends tonight

Election campaign to 161 union parishads (UPs) and nine municipalities will end at 12:00am today (Saturday night).
Voting will be held in these union parishads (UPs) and municipalities following health guidelines.
Sources said elections to 167 UPs were postponed in the first phase. Of which, the Election Commission (EC) decided to hold polls to 161 UPs on September 20. Five UP chairman candidates have already died. In addition, the EC received a request to stop voting in a UP of Cox’s Bazar for the time being. As a result, the EC took the decision to hold elections to 161 UPs. Voting will also be held to nine suspended municipalities on the same day.
