Burnt Ishita, an HSC examinee, dies in Dhaka

HSC examinee of Azimpur Girls School and College Ishita Yasmin Simi, 19, died at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital on Tuesday morning.

According to the family, Ishita set herself on fire last Saturday after being scolded by her mother about her studies.

Around 80 percent of Ishita’s body was burnt. She was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, said Perth Shankar Pal, a resident physician at the Burn Institute.
