2 Bangladeshi-origin women elected as councillors in Australia

Two Bangladesh-origin women have been elected as councillors in Australia for the first time.

Sabrin Farooqui won from the Labor Party while Sajeda Akter Sanjida from Liberal Party.

Some 30 Bangladeshis, including four women, contested in this year’s state council elections which were held in 124 city councils in the state of New South Wales on 4 December.
