Bangladesh rcurve mixed team archers Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Diya Siddique bagged a gold medal in the Asia Cup-World Ranking Tournament, Stage-I, as the pair beat Kazakhstan pair of Alina Ilyassova and Ilfat Abdullin in the final of the event in Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei, on Sunday.
Apart from the team success, Rubel bagged a bronze medal with a 6-4 set points win against Kazakhstan’s Ilfat Abdullin in the recurve men’s individual event bronze final.
In the rcurve mixed team event final, Rubel and Diya got a 5-3 set points win against the Kazakhstan pair.
On their way to reaching the final, Rubel and Diya pair beat the Australian pair of Paeglis Laura and Tyack Ryan by 5-1 set points in the semi-finals earlier on Friday.
They got a 6-2 set-point victory against the Malaysian pair of Mashayikh Syaqiera and Zolkepeli Muhamad Zarif Syahiir in the quarter-finals after getting a bye in the pre-quarterfinals.
Australian pair Laura Paeglis and Ryan Tyack won a bronze medal in this event as they beat the Philippines pair Gabrielle Monica Bidaure and Jason Emmanuel Feliciano by 18-15 set points in the bronze-final battle.
However, Diya could have bag a bronze medal individually but she missed the chance as lost to Mashayikh Syaqiera of Malaysia by 4-6 set points in the bronze final of the recurve women’s individual event.
