The government on Monday decided to extend upcoming Eid-ul-Azha holidays by one day, with June 27 included as part of the holidays.
The decision was taken in a weekly cabinet meeting with prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at the Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka, said officials.
With the latest decision, the Eid-ul-Azha holidays will begin on June 27 and end on June 30.
As the day after June 30 is Saturday, the holidaymakers will enjoy a five-day eid holiday.
The National Moon Sighting Committee will meet in a meeting at the Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram office in Dhaka on Monday evening to set the date of Eid-Ul-Azha.
The government had earlier extended Eid-ul-Fitr holidays by one day.
