Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan and his deputy Liton Das are set to join the ongoing training camp for the forthcoming Asia Cup within the next couple of days, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed on Sunday.
He further added that Shakib would have a chat with his team-mates following their reunion.
The next edition of the Asia Cup, which will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will start on August 30.
‘Shakib was on leave until today [Sunday]. I hope he will return by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, and then he will have a chat with the team,’ Jalal told reporters on Sunday.
Shakib and Liton featured for the Galle Titans in the ongoing edition of the Lanka Premier League, and thus missed out on the initial phase of the ongoing preparatory camp for the approaching regional competition that formally commenced at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on August 12.
While the latter returned to Dhaka on the day after his side was knocked out of the second qualifier of the tournament on August 19, the former went to the United Arab Emirates on personal grounds.
Shakib, who played 10 games, bagged 138 runs along with 10 wickets, while Liton, who played in three games, could score only 34 runs.
