Fakhrul demands resignation of Dhaka mayors over dengue outbreak

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the two mayors of Dhaka North city Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporations should resign for their failure to control this year’s dengue outbreak, with most of the deaths and hospitalizations recorded in the capital.
Mirza Fakhrul came up with the demand while inaugurating blood donation programmes in two hospitals of city’s Panthapath area on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the death toll from dengue infection crossed 600-mark as the authorities recorded 657 dengue deaths between January 1, 2023 and September 2.
The total number of patients rose to 1,35,916 during the time.
