Newly elected eleven MPs of Jatiya Party (JaPa), long considered Bangladesh’s third-largest political force, took the oath of office on Wednesday morning.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath to newly elected members of parliament at an oath-taking ceremony at the Parliament building.
Earlier, the speaker herself administered her own oath. She congratulated the newly elected MPs.
The ceremony began around 11am in the Oath Room of the Parliament Complex, after Awami League President and also Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, arrived at the Parliament building.
