The foreign ministry on Tuesday morning summoned the Myanmar ambassador to Bangladesh, Aung Kyaw Moe, over shelling from Myanmar side that killed two people in bordering hill district of Bandarban on Monday.
Myanmar wing director general Mian Md Mainul Kabir handed over a protest note to the Myanmar envoy at the State Guesthouse Padma over the killing of two people in shelling from Myanmar territory, a foreign ministry official confirmed.
At least two civilians were killed and several hundred others started fleeing bordering villages in Bangladesh’s hilly Bandarban district on Monday as repeated artillery shells were fired from Myanmar during the ongoing conflict between the ethnic Arakan Army and Myanmar troops along the international border.
