State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam on Monday said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the authorities concerned to bring back the trapped Bangladeshi citizens from China who want to return from there.
The junior minister disclosed the PM’s directives in a status posted on his verified Facebook page on Monday morning.
In the status, he wrote: “We have started discussion with the China government in this regard. The process will be taken considering the reality and consent of local administration. Ensuring security of Bangladeshi citizens is our main goal.”
A preliminary instruction will be issued today (Monday) with an aim to prepare a list of people who are interested to come back from China, the status reads.
Earlier, some Bangladeshi students currently staying in Wuhan province in China have made a humanitarian appeal to the Bangladesh authorities to save them from the crisis created after the outbreak of Coronavirus that has already claimed over 80 lives.
