Sixty-five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members will be deployed in the capital to avert any untoward incident ahead of the Dhaka south and north city corporations elections, slated for February 1.
Some 40,000 BGB members will be deployed at all strategic points in the city. They will perform elections duty for four days before and after the Dhaka city polls, management section of the Election Commission (EC) said on Monday.
Twenty-seven platoons of BGB will work as ‘striking force’ in North Dhaka while thirty-eight platoons in South Dhaka, EC sources said.
