The ruling Awami League will hold a discussion in the afternoon today in front of the party central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital as part of the ongoing celebration of its 75th founding anniversary.
The announcement of the programme came after the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party announced rally in front of its central party office in the capital’s Naya Paltan area on the same day demanding the unconditional release of its ailing chairperson Khaleda Zia.
AL Dhaka south city unit will organise the programme at 3:00pm today where party general secretary Obaidul Quader will be present as chief guest, said a press release signed by the party’s Dhaka south unit office secretary Reaz Uddin Reaz.
The meeting is scheduled to be chaired by the party’s Dhaka south city unit president Abu Ahmed Mannafi and conducted by unit general secretary Humayun Kabir.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of a bicycle procession in front of the Sangsad Bhaban on Friday morning marking the party’s founding anniversary, AL general secretary Obaidul Quader said, ‘Awami League is not announcing any counter programmes as the party’s yearlong programmes were announced earlier.’
He said that AL city units and associate bodies would ornagise programmes after the central committee marking the founding anniversary.
