Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday invited the protesters, who are holding street protests, to her Ganabhaban official residence to discuss their demands.

The PM made the invitation at a meeting with Peshajibi Somonnoy Parishad at Ganabhaban.

‘Gananhaban’s doors are open. I want to sit with the quota protesters and listen to them. I don’t want conflict,’ PM said.

At the meeting, prime minister also asked the authorities concerned to free the arrested students.

Earlier on the day, prime minister Hasina, also the president of the ruling Awami League, assigned AL presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak and joint secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim to sit with the coordinators of the student movement.

After the news was published, Asif Mahmud, a coordinator of the Student Movement against Discrimination, in a Facebook post refused to sit with the government and Awami League leaders.

‘We are not willing to hold any kind of dialogue with the killer government and there is no question of holding discussion with the political party Awami League,’ he said.

‘We have no plans to negotiate with them. Our demand is very clear, if they have any statement, they can put it in front of the country’s people through media. The decision of the protesting students is our decision. There is no dialogue with bullets and terror,’ he said.
