Police on Tuesday night arrested former Chattogram Port Authority chairman Rear Admiral Md Sohail, Awami League organising secretary Ahammad Hossain and former state minister for liberation war Captain (retd) AB Tajul Islam in the capital’s Banani, Rampura and Banasree areas respectively.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police media cell disclosed the information to the media through a text message on Wednesday morning.
Sohail was withdrawn from the post of chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority in the second week of August.
He also served as the director of legal and media wing of Rapid Action Battalion.
According to a report of the United News of Bangladesh, former state minister for liberation war Captain (retd) AB Tajul Islam was also arrested in Dhaka’s Banasree area on Tuesday night.
Tajul Islam was the lawmaker for Brahmanbaria-6 constituency for four consecutive terms. In 2009, he served as the minister of state for liberation war. He also held the post of liberation war affairs secretary of Awami League.
Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan police conducted separate drives in the city’s different areas on Tuesday night and arrested the three.
