Lawyer’s assistant hacked dead in Pirojpur

An assistant of a lawyer was hacked to death by some miscreants at Shangkarpasha village in Pirojpur Sadar upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Siddiqur Rahman Khalifa, 60, son of late Kashem Ali Khalifa, a resident of the village.
Hayatul Islam Khan, superintendent of the district police, said some unidentified miscreants swooped on Siddiqur on his way to the court around 8 am and hacked him with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured.
Being rescued by locals, he was rushed to Sadar hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
The police super said that the attack might have been carried out following land related dispute and they are trying to arrest the murderers.
