All Bangladesh cricketers test negative for corona

All members of the Bangladesh national cricket team and support staff have tested negative for Covid-19 ahead of their preparation camp in Oman for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury confirmed the matter to The Daily Sun on Sunday.

Mahmudullah and co are all set to leave Dhaka for Oman tonight (Sunday) at 10:45pm to take part in the ICC Men’s World Cup T20 in Oman and the UAE. After arriving in Oman on Monday, they will maintain room quarantine for a day. Earlier on Saturday, Tigers’ corona samples were collected.

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and pacer Mustafizur Rahman will join Bangladesh team directly after completing their IPL duty. Members of the foreign coaching staff will travel to Oman from their respective countries.

 

Meanwhile, Bangladesh opener Liton Das has already left for Oman with his wife on 30 September.

Bangladesh will play two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka and Ireland before the start of the qualifying round. The two matches will be played on October 12 and 14 in Abu Dhabi.

Bangladesh will have to play the first round to qualify into the Super 12s. They will take on Scotland in their first qualifying match on October 17.

Bangladesh are drawn with Scotland, co-host Oman and Papua New Guinea.
