The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) grilled three persons of Central Medicine Store Depot (CMSD) over alleged graft in the purchase of masks and other protective equipment for government hospitals amid the coronavirus pandemic.
They are Dr Md Shahjahan, former assistant director (Store and Distribution) and incumbent assistant director (Administration), Dr Sabbir Ahmed, former desk officer-8, and Kabir Ahmmed, store officer of CMSD.
ACC Director Mir Md Zainul Abedin Shibli-led team has started the interrogation after they reached the national anti-graft agency’s headquarters in Segun Bagicha around 10:00am on Sunday.
ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed the news.
Earlier on July 13, six officials of Central Medicine Store Depot (CMSD) were asked to appear before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to give statement about their alleged involvement in various irregularities in the name of procuring substandard masks, PPEs and other health equipment for the treatment of Covid-19.
The officials are Dr Md Shahjahan, former assistant director (Store and Distribution) and incumbent assistant director (Administration), CMSD; Dr Sabbir Ahmed, former desk officer-8 and additional duty on store, CMSD, Dhaka; Kabir Ahmmed, store officer, CMSD, Dhaka; Md Yusuf Fakir, senior storekeeper, CMSD, Dhaka; Dr Md Zakir Hossain, deputy director and P&C, CMSD, Dhaka; and Dr Ziaul Haque, former medical officer (chief coordinator), CMSD, Dhaka.
