Dubai’s City Walk has been transformed into a giant canvas that features 3D street art, live pendulum paintings and calligraphy shows.
Spanish 3D artist and Guinness World Record holder, Juandrés Vera, and other local artists have created anamorphic murals that let visitors ‘walk’ into the art.
Vera, a multi-award winning artist, creates art pieces that provide the perfect backdrop for some ‘gram worthy moments.
The Dubai Canvas that kicked off over the weekend will be on till August 31.
The theme of the indoor art exhibition is ‘Travelling Through Art’. “Given that most travel plans for the summer have now been postponed, visitors can get their fill of inspiration and out-of-the-world wonder at the art festival as they celebrate contemporary art,” City Walk said on its website.
Visitors can also watch local artists create live art experiences. They can attend live ‘pendulum painting’ performances, which will see a swinging pendulum instead of a paint brush used to create art. Through the show, Serbian artist Milan Katanic will seek to inspire audiences with shifting lines, shapes, colours and movements. Visitors can also enjoy live calligraphy challenges showcased by popular local artist Ahmed ElMehri.
Shaima Al Suwaidi, manager of City Branding, Brand Dubai, said: “This year’s Dubai Canvas reflects the city’s cultural resilience even in the face of the most challenging circumstances.
“At a time when the process of restoring normalcy in all sectors and spheres of life gathers pace, Dubai Canvas seeks to introduce the community to new creative perspectives through a wonderfully interactive experience.”
