Customs officials detained a man with 3.7kg gold from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday morning.
The arrestee was identified as Almas Ali.
Assistant Commissioner of Customs (B-Shift) Solaiman Hossain confirmed the matter to media.
Solaiman Hossain said acting on a tip-off, the officials challenged Almas as he was crossing the green channel of the airport after he reached at the airport on a BG-148 flight from Dubai.
They scanned his luggage and found the gold worth Tk 2.22 crore hidden inside a mixer machine, he added.
A process in underway to take legal action against him, he said.
