The ruling Awami League will start selling nomination forms on Monday for by-elections to five constituencies amid the ongoing wave of coronavirus pandemic.
The five constituencies where the by-elections will be held are Naogaon-6, Sirajganj-1, Pabna-4, Dhaka-5 and Dhaka-18.
The nomination form sale and submission will end on August 23, said a press release on Sunday.
The sale of nomination forms is scheduled to start at 11:00am on Monday at Awami League president Sheikh Hasina’s political office at Dhanmondi in the capital, it said.
Nomination forms sale and submission will continue from 11:00am to 5:00pm, the press release said.
All aspirants of Naogaon-6, Sirajganj-1, Pabna-4, Dhaka-5 and Dhaka-18 by-polls have been asked to collect and submit nomination forms within the stipulated time.
On the occasion, Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed all aspirants to abide by the health guidelines and avoid public gathering.
Sirajganj-1, Dhaka-18, Pabna-4, Naogaon-6 and Dhaka-5 constituencies fell vacant following the deaths of Awami League presidium member Mohammed Nasim, another presidium member Shahara Khatun, former land minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, prominent labour leader Md Israfil Alam and Habibur Rahman Mollah respectively.
