Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat Wahida Khanam, who sustained severe injuries in an attack by some unidentified miscreants at her official residence, airlifted to Dhaka by an air ambulance on Thursday.

Later, she was admitted to National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in the capital for better treatment.

Earlier, the UNO and her father — Omor Ali, a freedom fighter — were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

According to local police, miscreants entered the UNO’s residence on Upazila Parishad Campus around 3:00am, breaking ventilators of the toilet.

They hit Wahida with a hammer on her head, after she approached the intruder.  When her father came to save her, they also attacked him, leaving him injured, police said.

On information, Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur, MahmudulAlam, and Police Super Anwar Hossain visited the house.

Wahida’s husband is the UNO of Rangpur Pirganj upazila.
