Police recovered the body of a young man in Shreepur upazila of Gazipur on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Russel Mia, 22, son of Sujon Mia, hailing from Mawna Singdighi village of the upazila. Russell was a teacher of Shishu Kanan Academy in Bartopa area.

Quoting Sharafat Ali, cousin of the deceased, Khondakar Imam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shreepur Police Station, said Imran Mandal, son of Abu Bakkar Mandal alias Bakka Mandal called Russel on Saturday afternoon but Russel did not returned home till Sunday morning.

Later on Sunday morning, local people spotted the body at the bank of Lablang river in Bilaighta area and informed police, he said.

The OC also said police suspects that miscreants might have killed him in a pre-planned way, adding the body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
