Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will launch open market sale (OMS) of onion on Sunday in face of soaring prices of the essential kitchen ingredient in the kitchen markets.
Consumers will be able to buy two kilogrammes of onion each at TK 30 per kg from trucks to be deployed at various places, commerce ministry sources said.
As of Saturday, per kilogram of local onion was selling at Tk70 in the capital’s retail markets, while imported onion was selling at Tk55-60 per kg.
Earlier, the government took the decision to launch OMS sale of onion at a meeting held to discuss the present situation of the country’s trade and commerce to face Covid-19.
