The national Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign will start across the country from October 4 and to be continued till October 17.
The campaign aims to feed vitamin A plus capsules to all children aged between six and 59 months.
Line Director Dr SM Mustafizur Rahman of the Institute of Public Health Nutrition informed the matter to media.
Under the campaign a total of 2.2 crore children will be fed Vitamin A capsules. Around 25.27 lakh children aged between six and 11 months will be fed blue coloured vitamin ‘A’ capsules while 1.95 crore children aged between 12 and 59 months will be given red coloured high-power capsules.
They will be given Vitamin A capsule at some 1, 20,000 permanent and 20 thousand mobile health centres across the country.
Mobile health centres has been set up at bus stands, railway stations, launch terminals, airports, ferry terminals, bridge toll centres and kheyaghats which will remain open from 8am to 4pm to make sure that all children are fed the capsules.
The children of the remote areas under 240 unions in 42 upazilas of 12 districts will be fed the capsules in the next four days of the campaign day through conducting a search programme.
