The High Court on Thursday ordered judicial inquiry into the alleged murder of a schoolgirl who later returned home alive in Narayanganj.
Besides, the court also asked Narayanganj chief judicial magistrate to submit a report by November 4 with FIR, statement of victim, accused and the people who have link with the incident.
The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman came up with the order.
Earlier on August 25, a revision was filed with the High Court challenging the accuracy, legality, and rationality of proceedings of the case filed with Narayanganj Sadar model police station after the girl went missing.
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir filed the revision on behalf of five other Supreme Court lawyers.
On August 27, the HC summoned Shamim Al Mamun, the then investigation officer (IO) of the case, and also sub-inspector (SI) of Narayanganj Sadar Police Station, and SI Mostafizur Rahman, the current IO of the case to appear before the court with case records.
Following the order, the officials appeared before the bench with case records on September 17.
The court on the day also fixed today for passing order on this petition.
The schoolgirl went missing on July 4 and her father filed a case over the matter on July 17.
Later, police arrested Abdullah, 22, and his friend Rakib, 19, after the victim’s father filed an abduction case on August 6 accusing them.
Two days later Khalil, 36, a boatman of Bandar upazila was arrested in the case.
On August 9, police said the trio confessed to their crimes.
On August 23, the victim was found unharmed in Nabiganj area of Bandar. She said she had fled with her boyfriend and was staying with her lover.
