2 children drown in Rajshahi pond

Two children drowned in a pond in Bakhrabad Dakshinpara area of Rajshahi on Tuesday noon.
The deceased were identified as Aimin Akter Sheli, 13, was a student of class six, daughter of Anisur Rahman and Zisa Khatun, 9, student of class three, daughter of Ziaur Rahman, both of them hailing from the area.
Jillur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Katakhali Police Station, said that Sheli and Zisa went to take bath in the pond this noon. At one stage, both of them drowned.
After receiving the news, members of fire service rescued them from the pond and rushed them to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) where duty doctor declared them dead.
A process is underway to file an unnatural death case with the police station, the OC said.
