The 32nd span of the much-hyped Padma Bridge will be installed at Mawa end of Louhjong upazila of Munshiganj on Saturday.

The 1-d span is expected to install on pillar no 4 and 5 of the bridge, said Dewan Abdul Quader, an executive engineer of Padma Bridge Project.

The work to take the span near pillar no 4-5 by Tian-E crane at Mawa started around 10:30am from Kumarbhog specialised construction yard.

With the installation of the pillar, 4,800 meters of the 6.15-kilometer-long bridge will be visible.

This span is being installed after the installation of the 31st span about 4 months ago.

Once in operation, the Padma Bridge, Bangladesh’s largest infrastructure project till date, will connect 21 southern districts with the capital and boost the GDP by 1 percent.
