The Feni court, that sentenced 16 people to death in a case lodged over the murder of Nusrat Jahan Rafi, has directed the police authorities to take departmental action against four cops, including former Sonagazi OC Moazzem Hossain.
Feni Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mamunur Rashid on Thursday awarded death penalty to all 16 accused, including expelled madrasa principal Siraj Ud Doula, for killing Feni madrasa student Nusrat.
The court also instructed departmental action against the former Superintendent of Police (SP) in Feni SM Jahangir Alam Sarkar, sub-inspectors Abu Yousuf and Iqbal Ahmed of Sonagazi Police Station.
The court delivered the judgement this morning after seven months of the brutal killing incident. It also fined all of the accused Tk 1 lakh each.
Nusrat was set on fire on April 6 on the roof of a madrasa she attended, allegedly by people loyal to principal Sirajuddoula whom she had accused of sexually harassing her.
She succumbed to her injuries four days later at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
