The British Asian Trust, a leading South Asian diaspora development organisation, founded by the Prince of Wales, has officially launched in the country.

Prime Minister’s International Relation Affairs Adviser Professor Dr Gowher Rizvi, Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman and British High Commissioner in Dhaka Robert Chatterton Dickson attended the launching function held at the Westin Hotel in the city on Thursday, said a press release today.

Chairman of the British Asian Trust’s Bangladesh Advisory Council Shayan F Rahman hosted the launching function.

The British Asian Trust is tackling poverty in South Asia, primarily working in the fields of education, livelihoods, anti-trafficking and mental health.

The trust is known for its pioneering work in social finance. As a part of the launch, it hosted a workshop for the development community in Bangladesh to learn more about social finance.
